Sankei Sports news site reports that "Ii Hi Tabidachi" was recorded early in September, just before Chihiro had throat surgery.
According to Daily Sports news site, "Ii Hi Tabidachi" was recorded before the surgery because Chihiro feared that her voice might be slightly changed. "Watashi to Warutsu wo" will be recorded by the end of October, but her comeback date is still uncertain.
Momoe Yamaguchi's comment I reported yesterday has a different nuance in other reports. It seems she said "I'm happy to hear that none other than Chihiro will be the singer".
Early in this morning I saw West Japan Railway Company's "Discover the West" TV commercial. Chihiro does not show herself in it. (Screen shots available at http://www.westjr.co.jp/news/newslist/article/031017a.html. )
... are out. "Ii Hi Tabidachi, Nishi e" and "Watashi to Warutsu wo". It seems the latter will be released as a CD-DA (i.e. ordinary music CD), not CCCD.
... this evening featured the "Ii Hi Tabidachi, Nishi e" CCCD. Mr. Tanimura, the writer of this song, says he is fascinated by a kind of gloominess taken on by both Momoe Yamaguchi and Chihiro Onitsuka. According to Tanimura, Chihiro leaped for joy when she learned she was going to sing this tune because this is Chihiro's favorite karaoke number. When Ms. Yamaguchi was informed of this plan, she reportedly said she loves Chihiro's singing.
Tonight I enjoyed the first episode of the TRICK 3 TV drama series: "The Man Who Manipulates Kotodama". At long last, part of "Watashi to Warutsu wo" was aired at the end of the program. It seemed to be a typical Chihiro-style ballad accompanied by a piano, an acoustic guitar, and strings.

According to Asahi Shimbun, a major national newspaper, "Ii Hi Tabidachi, Nishi e (Departure on a Fine Day, For the West)" will be out on October 29. Chihiro reportedly said she believes none other than Chihiro herself are qualified to sing this number. (Asahi Shimbun, October 14, evening edition)
According to sources, the TRICK 3 theme "Watashi to Warutsu wo" is likely to be released on November 27.
Toshiba EMI's Music Talks page reports that Chihiro is recording songs for her fourth album.
Currently Chihiro's official bulletin board system is not available. The reason for this discontinuance is not announced. The date of reopening is unknown.
